"We decided to move to our long-time property at Green Lake when we retired, and we knew we could not live in our small 50+ year old cabin. After a lot of good feedback, we opted to go with Wilderness Custom Homes for the build of our new home and garage. We have never gone through this process before, and Wilderness made it pretty painless from design through completion. Our build was challenging in that it occurred during the height of Covid and all the supply-chain issues. It also involved driveway changes, new septic, well upgrades, as well as hydro changes affecting two of our neighbours. Aaron’s long-time relationships with quality local trades, as well as his rapport with regulatory bodies and utilities really helped keep the process moving forward. Despite the challenges we had, our build was completed on time, and we are very happy with the results. We think that one telling aspect is that after a few years, and thinking back, there isn’t really any aspect to the design we would have changed. If we ever undertook another build, we would not hesitate in using Wilderness Custom Homes.

The Caldarella Family
A client’s pride in ownership is the Burwell family’s number one priority. Besides having everything done on schedule, always leaving a clean work site and being perfectionists, their knowledge, hard work and attention to detail made our home-away-from-home better than our wildest dreams.
For example, our plan called for a 2 level home. With their knowledge and expertise they were able to not only put in a basement but raise the ground level so we had a view of the Lake.
As to quality of workmanship, in our way of thinking, the foundation is everything. Well not only did we think we could eat off it because it was so smooth, when we went to level our pool table it was level, already!
As to sub trades used, the Burwell family have high level expectations and only use sub trades that do the same. The cabinetry, woodwork and even the wiring in the utility room was phenomenal. Not to mention the painting! (Most of the sub trades used have been working with them for years.)
Needless to say, the Burwell family’s pride in workmanship and their clients’ pride in ownership go hand in hand. That’s why they’re our friends for life. Ask anyone who has a house built by the Burwells and they’ll welcome you in with open arms, just like us.

“Choosing to build a new home was both exciting and terrifying. Aaron Burwell, with Wilderness Custom Homes, guided me through both of these experiences.
The ‘terrifying’ part — where and how to start. After meeting with Aaron Burwell, many of my fears were allayed. He spent countless hours talking, guiding, choosing and advising re the plans for my home. The actual placement of the lot was definitely a consideration as well. Included in these many hours of consulting was showing me homes he’d already built as well as viewing and researching available products. The number of hours spend with me were countless. The bottom line, though was always my choice, my happiness.
Aaron is known for the quality of the homes he builds and I can attest to that. From base construction to painting to finishing, all is well done.
What I would like to highlight in my review is the ‘exciting’ part of the building experience. It impressed me that he truly was willing to explore and embrace being creative within the building plans. It was so exciting including focal points and unique features in my home. This creativeness expanded to landscaping ideas. To work with someone who enjoyed being creative was incredibly enjoyable and satisfying.
If I lived in a world with unlimited funds, I would work with Aaron in a heartbeat to design and build my absolutely one-of-a-kind home!!!!

A number of years ago I had a large shop built for me by Wilderness Custom Homes, a local family business and I can only say that I was nothing less than totally satisfied with their workmanship, professionalism , ability to complete the job within the quoted time frames and also within the quoted price given to me previous to the project being started.
In 2006 I became personally involved with the Watch Lake – North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department as a Director and in 2008 – 2009 we set out on an ambitious project to totally rebuild the very old Fire Hall #1 at Watch Lake and put a very large addition onto the existing Fire Hall # 2 located at Green Lake. We approached Wilderness Custom Homes to see if they might be interested in doing some “consulting” and help us put together a plan for the very complicated Hall #2 addition, but to our amazement they offered to build the addition from the foundations to lockup stage as ” A DONATION TO THE COMMUNITY”!! This is a local company that truly ” supports the community that supports it ” once again showing their professionalism and commitment.
I have used the services of Wilderness Custom Homes in the past and will be in the future for my building needs for all the reasons I’ve stated above.
